Denver CO, Cheyenne WY, and the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains four day getaway
Four Fun Days On The Road In The True West -- This four day getaway provides lots of sightseeing, great food, and activities and historic hotels that have kept their original character while providing for the needs of today's travelers.
While it’s true that the world has changed dramatically in recent years there is a part of the United States that remains much like our great-grandparents lived it when they migrated West. The Historic Hotels of the Rockies can offer experiences similar to those remarkable days of growth and expansion with a road trip itinerary to go back in time.
To begin the four day road trip, fly into Denver International Airport, a major hub in the heart of the country. From DIA it’s a short and fast drive up I-25 to the bustling city of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Choose either the Nagle Warren Bed and Breakfast or The Historic Plains Hotel for lodging, but be sure to visit both before leaving town. There is a full day and a half of historical sightseeing in Cheyenne before setting off on the next leg of the road adventure. DAY 1
The second DAY 2 is a drive west with a stop in Laramie, followed by a night of lodging and fine dining at Elk Mountain Hotel and Restaurant. The Elk Mountain Hotel sits on the banks of the Medicine Bow River and the location was once a major stopover for traders and pioneers traveling the Overland Trail.
On DAY 3 the road turns south towards Colorado and winds through old ranching country on the western side of the Medicine Bow Mountains. The final destination is Empire, Colorado and the Peck House and another evening of historic lodging and fine dining.
The final day DAY 4 on the road has many historic stops from Empire back into Denver, highlighted by the history of mining in Colorado and the restored historical districts in the small mining towns. Once back in the city, enjoy comfort and elegance at Castle Marne, with many local Denver attractions nearby.
